Position Summary    

                                                                             

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Mortgage Underwriter (DE + LAPP/SAR) to join our dynamic team. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in our mortgage operations, ensuring that loan applications are thoroughly evaluated for creditworthiness and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities

 

As a Mortgage Underwriter, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and analyzing loan applications and supporting documents to ensure they meet company and industry standards.

  • Utilizing your DE and LAPP/SAR certification to endorse FHA and VA loans.

  • Making informed decisions on loan approvals and denials based on thorough analysis and in compliance with company policies and federal regulations.

  • Providing detailed feedback to loan officers and processors to ensure the mortgage process runs smoothly and efficiently.

  • Collaborating with the loan processing team to resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise during the underwriting process.

  • Keeping abreast of changes in policies and regulations that may impact the underwriting process.

  • Assisting in training and guiding processors and other team members.

  • Participating in regular team meetings and contributing to the overall improvement of the underwriting process.

 

Requirements

 

Applicants must reside in one of the following states to be considered for this position:

Colorado, Florida, California, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, or Texas.

 

A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mortgage Underwriter and proficiency in Encompass

  • DE and LAPP/SAR certifications.
  • Proficiency in manually underwriting FHA and VA loans.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Proven experience in reviewing and analyzing complex tax returns and financial documents.
  • Exceptional decision-making skills with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively within a remote team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Compensation

  • Estimated Annual Salary: $90,000 - $105,000 
  • FLSA Status: Non Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Year-End Discretionary
