Overview & Position Summary
This position supports the architectural design function by producing, coordinating, and maintaining design drawings, documentation,
and technical materials. This role works under moderate supervision and applies broad discipline knowledge to meet operational and
functional targets with moderate impact on team results. This position also contributes to problem-solving, cross-functional coordination,
and providing limited guidance to junior team members.
Primary Responsibilities
• Apply broad architectural design knowledge to support plan development, revisions, and documentation.
• Work under moderate supervision to meet operational, functional, and business objectives with moderate impact on team
results.
• Prepare, update, and maintain architectural drawings, specifications, and related materials.
• Collaborate with internal partners to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established design standards.
• Influence others within the team through explanation of facts, policies, and practices.
• Address difficult problems by drawing on prior experience and performing analysis of design-related issues.
• Identify when problems require understanding of other job areas and escalate appropriately.
• Provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and support employees.
• Support quality control processes, file management, and design documentation accuracy.
• Contribute to workflow improvements and standardization of documentation practices.
Education & Experience
Required:
• Minimum 2 years of relevant architectural design or design support experience, or equivalent (e.g., 6–8 years total
experience)
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, design, drafting, or a related field
• Experience supporting architectural design documentation or production activities
• Experience working within a team-based architectural or design environment
Preferred:
• Additional experience supporting architectural design in a homebuilding or construction environment
• Knowledge of architectural documentation standards and design workflows
• Experience using architectural design or CAD software platforms
Skills & Competencies
• Broad knowledge of architectural design principles and tools
• Ability to review, interpret, and produce design documents and drawings
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to influence team members through clear explanation of facts and practices
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work under moderate supervision and manage multiple assignments
• High attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation
• Proficiency with design and document management software
• Ability to learn adjacent job areas as required
• Ability to provide guidance to junior staff when needed
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting and involves regular use of design software, technical documentation, and digital file systems. This position may require periods of focused, detailed work to meet project milestones and deadlines. Occasional travel may be necessary based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods while working on design software or reviewing plans
• Frequent use of computers and digital design tools
• Ability to lift or move plan sets or related materials as needed
• Ability to focus on detailed tasks for extended periods
