Overview & Position Summary

This role leads and oversees residential construction activities across multiple homes, phases, or sections of a community. Working under limited supervision, the Senior Assistant Superintendent ensures consistent execution of schedules, quality, and safety standards while mentoring and guiding Assistant Superintendents and field staff. This position coordinates trade partners, resolves routine construction and scheduling issues, and supports Superintendents in achieving operational and customer satisfaction targets.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate construction activities for multiple homes or phases within a community.
  • Schedule and supervise trade partners, laborers, and Assistant Superintendents to meet production timelines and quality expectations.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed homes for compliance with construction plans, building codes, and company standards.
  • Monitor jobsite safety and cleanliness, ensuring adherence to OSHA and company safety programs, including environmental compliance where applicable.
  • Anticipate and resolve routine scheduling, sequencing, and workflow conflicts independently.
  • Support municipal inspections, walk-throughs, and Certificates of Occupancy, escalating complex issues to the Superintendent.
  • Lead and mentor Assistant Superintendents and other field staff to maintain consistent quality and productivity.
  • Track and communicate construction progress, risks, and corrective actions to Superintendents and internal teams.
  • Participate in homeowner orientations and resolve routine construction-related customer concerns under Superintendent guidance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education & Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in residential construction, field operations, or site supervision.

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in construction management or a related field; or 5-7 years of relevant experience.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of residential construction methods and sequencing
  • Understanding of jobsite safety standards and quality expectations
  • Ability to read and interpret basic construction plans and schedules
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to identify and escalate construction issues appropriately
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with construction tracking or scheduling systems
  • Ability to coach and support other team members
  • Ability to communicate and interact with customers effectively
  • Self-motivated and possess strong work ethic

 

Working Conditions

This position is primarily based in active residential construction sites with some time spent in a general office environment. Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, varying weather, noise, and construction materials is expected. Local travel between communities or job sites is required.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk construction sites and navigate uneven terrain
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders as needed
  • Ability to visually inspect construction work and details
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds occasionally

 

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $28.85-$33.65/hr
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Quarterly Production
