Overview & Position Summary
This position is responsible for administering employee leave programs while ensuring organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. This role serves as a subject matter expert on leave management and HR compliance, supporting employees, managers, and HR leadership by mitigating risk, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring consistent, compliant practices.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end administration of employee leave programs from initiation through return-to-work
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding leave requests, eligibility, and status updates
  • Coordinate with third-party leave administrators and benefits vendors when applicable
  • Track leave usage, intermittent leave, and return-to-work timelines
  • Facilitate return-to-work processes, including fitness-for-duty evaluations where required
  • Educate employees and managers on leave policies, procedures, and responsibilities
  • Provide guidance on ADA accommodations and manage the interactive process
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Legal, and Payroll teams to resolve leave-related issues
  • Maintain and manage leave tracking systems and HRIS data
  • Generate reports on leave status
  • Ensure HR practices, policies, and programs comply with federal, state, and local laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA)
  • Monitor regulatory updates and recommend policy/process changes
  • Support compliance with wage and hour laws, employee classification, and recordkeeping requirements
  • Manage and coordinate company training related to state-required laws
  • Manage internal audit review processes and ensure proper documentation

 

Education & Experience

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3–5 years of experience administering employee leave programs and employment compliance processes
  • Experience working with HRIS systems, leave management platforms, and case management tools
  • Experience administering FMLA, ADA, disability, and state leave programs.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing multi-state leave programs and applying federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA)
  • Experience partnering with third-party leave administrators or benefits vendors

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally (HR, Legal, Payroll, Benefits)
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and leave regulations, with the ability to apply them in practice

 

Working Conditions
Primarily works in a general office environment and may require occasional extended hours to meet deadlines or manage high-volume periods. Regular interaction with employees, managers, and cross-functional partners while handling sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone)
  • Ability to occasionally move or position items such as files and documents (up to 10 pounds)

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $75,000-$85,000
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Year-end Discretionary
